In Celebration of MHS Class of 1958

A Tribute and Celebration

We were the class of 1958, members of the Greatest Generation as well as children of the Greatest Generation. Born in 1940, we are also called members of the Traditional Generation.

Our childhood, post World War II, "was the best of times . . . it was the age of wisdom . . . it was the epoch of belief . . .it was the season of Light . . . it was the spring of hope . . . we had everything before us . . .we were all going direct to Heaven . . . ." (A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens.) At least, that's the way I felt about it. We were truly blessed.

God's Minute

Isaiah 55:1-3

Thus says the LORD:
All you who are thirsty,
come to the water!
You who have no money,
come, receive grain and eat;
Come, without paying and without cost,
drink wine and milk!
Why spend your money for what is not bread;
your wages for what fails to satisfy?
Heed me, and you shall eat well,
you shall delight in rich fare.
Come to me heedfully,
listen, that you may have life.
I will renew with you the everlasting covenant,
the benefits assured to David.

I enjoy your weekly "God's Minute" posts. I think they are well chosen, usually poetic and appear to have been selected from the Old Testament to apply generally to the present day.

Even though this one refers to my favorite person, me, David, read with a certain detachment from religion, it comes close to being a socialist's promise.

Sorta like a Barak Hussein Obama speech.

Does that mean God is a Democrat?

He probably shuns politics. Isn't there something about "Thou shalt not bear false witness (lie?)", a bit about not coveting and also about not stealing somewhere in that famous decalogue that ol' Moses delivered?

Well - I'll reverse my statement. Maybe Democrats think they are God. Dare I say this? Also, I have heard rumors about a messiah who is a Democrat running for president.

Maybe I should have chosen another verse this week,this one: Proverbs 21:9. "Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife."
