In Celebration of MHS Class of 1958

A Tribute and Celebration

We were the class of 1958, members of the Greatest Generation as well as children of the Greatest Generation. Born in 1940, we are also called members of the Traditional Generation.

Our childhood, post World War II, "was the best of times . . . it was the age of wisdom . . . it was the epoch of belief . . .it was the season of Light . . . it was the spring of hope . . . we had everything before us . . .we were all going direct to Heaven . . . ." (A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens.) At least, that's the way I felt about it. We were truly blessed.

Thank You

I would really like to put in another "two cents worth" and offer a big Thank You to Jinny for having the idea of the blog. Another Thank You to Ouida for doing an outstanding job as our Administrator. I surely have another penny left, so I must say Thank You to all the members of the Reunion Committee for working so hard to bring us all together again. I'll run to the nearest ATM and withdraw a few more pennies and come back later.

And thank you MJ. I would like to give big, big thanks to the reunion committee. I'm sure they have to put up with much as well as having to do lots of work that none of us ever know about. I am so grateful to them, especially the same ones who have done it time after time.

In my opinion there is no greater thanks that anyone could give than by taking an active part in the blog.

This is a great chance to connect, re-connect and build some rapport, establish relationships and in general build interest in the reunion.

I know I am wearing out my welcome but there are very few who are taking advantage of the work and effort to create and maintain the blog.

I am sure Jinny and Ouida truly appreciate your recognization of their effort. For those that a trip to the ATM is a bit too much effort, show your appreciation by posting some interesting information about you and your life (or if you are like me - just post some boring facts.)

Thank you all who have stopped to participate, offer your kudoes and give a word of encouragement. I'm so excited about the response to the blog. Although few have left their print, many have visited. That alone is surely an indication of its impact. Our purpose is being fulfilled. We have 3 more months to get to know one another again, as adults with keen interests and rich lives, before the reunion. Reading your profiles give me a sense of pride as I relish in your accomplishments. For those who will not be able to attend the reunion, the blog serves an even greater purpose - to reconnect, albeit in virtual reality. Some of us knew one another on a limited basis 50 years ago; however, today through technology, we are establishing relationships that will affect us for the rest of our lives. I'm loving the blog and I too appreciate all that has been done by Ouida, the bloggers and the interested guests. The 13 thousand plus visits could easily mount to over 35 thousand by the time we meet in October - a testament to our interest and delight in one another.

Jinny, you have a grand way with words in affirming others and being so gracious. What a wonderful gift you are to us. Thank you so much.
