Fruge’, Jr. will be Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with

Mr. Fruge’, 80, of Meridian, passed
away Sunday, June 14, 2020 at his home.
Mr. Fruge’ grew up in Meridian. He
attended Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN before going to the University of
Alabama where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He joined his father,
Lix Fruge’ Sr, at his family run business, Fruge’ Oil Company, which was
credited with bringing Shell branded gasoline to Meridian. He worked side by
side with his son until this year thus making the business one of the oldest
Shell jobberships in Mississippi. In 1967, he married Peggi Brown and together
they built one of the first houses on Dalewood Lake. This helped to shape his
love of water skiing. They raised two children, Melissa, born in 1968, and
L.J., born in 1970.
Mr. Fruge’ loved fishing,
particularly at Dogwood Lake, and savored the drive out there with his dog. He
also loved hunting and working at the hunting camp. He especially looked
forward to his annual white tail deer hunt with friends in the hill country of
Texas. He was an avid Alabama football fan. He loved to cook, especially gumbo,
and he was a pro at making Brandy Alexanders. He also loved listening to an
Elvis album.
He served as a long time board
member on Citizens National Bank. He also was a member of the Roundtable
Investment Club of Meridian.
For anyone that knew Lix, it was
easy to see he had a heart of gold and had a smile in his eyes. He would help
out a person in need without thinking twice. He adored his grandchildren, and
always had a good story to tell that would leave you laughing. He kept his
style in check with his flattop haircut! He enjoyed sponsoring local athletic
teams and was quick to lend support to any local Meridian charities.
Mr. Lix is survived by his son, L.J.
Fruge’, III (Nicola); grandchildren Jay Fruge’, Caroline Fruge’, Marguerite
Marquez, John Marquez, and Lilly Marquez. Brother, Don Fruge’ (Mary Ann);
Son-in-law Johnny Marquez (Margaret) as well as a host of extended family
members.
Mr. Fruge’ is preceded in death by
his wife, Peggi Fruge’; daughter, Melissa Marquez; and parents, Lix J. Fruge’,
Sr. and Rosemary Fruge’.

through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
