In Celebration of MHS Class of 1958

A Tribute and Celebration

We were the class of 1958, members of the Greatest Generation as well as children of the Greatest Generation. Born in 1940, we are also called members of the Traditional Generation.

Our childhood, post World War II, "was the best of times . . . it was the age of wisdom . . . it was the epoch of belief . . .it was the season of Light . . . it was the spring of hope . . . we had everything before us . . .we were all going direct to Heaven . . . ." (A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens.) At least, that's the way I felt about it. We were truly blessed.

Although the Cats lost quite a bit to graduation, they begin the season ranked in the top 10 of the Clarion Ledger statewide poll. Scores will be sent out on this site all season long."

10:00 PM UPDATE: "MHS started the season with a hard fought 13-5 win over West Lauderdale in Collinsville. The Cats will host Wayne County next Friday."

FaceBook Breakup

If you are on FaceBook, you can appreciate this video and I hope it will make you laugh. Also, you will realize that some of the lines that seem risque are not that at all and not intended that way by this group, Throw'd TV. If you are not on FaceBook, I don't think this video will make a bit of sense. Also, if you are not on FaceBook, you are missing some adventures as well as missing a great way to stay in touch with your children, grandchildren, family and friends - as well as classmates. However, FaceBook can get you into trouble, as the video indicates.

(To signup for FaceBook, go to http://www.facebook.com. Quick and easy. Let me know if you do, and I'll put you in touch with other classmates.)

PANSY, FAN OF NORA, THE PIANO-PLAYING CAT

My cat Pansy is a fan for sure. A moment before this shot, she was trying to climb into the TV - to play a duet with Nora, ostensibly.

PARASAILING AT PANAMA CITY BEACH

Can you believe I went parasailing, along with daughter Caroline and grandson Caleb at Panama City Beach last week? The 3 of us went up together, and had 2 dips, one of which put us all the way under; I had a big taste of saltwater! It was great fun, and a wonderful way for me to celebrate the end of chemo and feeling good again! This is the parachute we used. I must say it was quite an experience also "hopping" from moving banana boat to moving speed boat during the process.

Grandson Taylor

Here's my grandson Taylor on his 11th birthday last Monday. He's holding the Alabama blanket I made for him, and seems to like it! His next wish is to go to an Alabama football game. He's doing well in classes for autistic children and also in regular classes in the Mt. Brook school system in Birmingham. He loves to read and to play computer games.

Visit to Meridian

I drove to Meridian on Sunday and came back yesterday. My grandson, Peyton, had a birthday party Sunday afternoon. He is two years old. Beth Clark and Edwina Hubert came by my son's home later on Sunday, and we had a great time talking. Edwina gave us news of everyone in our class that she has been in contact with recently, including Lyle and others she saw along the way, driving to Meridian. It was great!!

If I have not responded to some of your e-mails, please forgive me for being slow as I am very behind.

Thank You for Donations to Northcentral Maltese Rescue

Several of you made donations to Northcentral Maltese Rescue on my birthday. I want to thank you so very much. A friend with the Rescue e-mailed me about your generosity, and a card has been mailed with your names.
We are a small rescue with big hearts. It is an all volunteer “army” – no one is paid – no offices – all the money is spent for the benefit of the dogs. Many, many of these dogs come into rescue with major medical needs, and they are all paid for by the rescue. One of our dogs, Pal, was a rescue who had been neglected and abused. He had heart worms, but was cured after several hard months of treatment. (Some dogs die from the treatment.) He was my foster, and we adopted him. He sleeps snuggled by my side every night. He is my Pal!!!

Also read the story of the Amazing Sam (also known as Revvy) who was born with backwards knees and walked on his front legs, until he was rescued by us. After surgery, much therapy and love, he was able to walk normally and to finally “run like the wind.”

Here are the dogs available for adoption now, including the one I have (Murphy): http://malteserescue.homestead.com/AvailabledDogs.html

Again, I thank you so very much for your generosity and kindness.

Love & Prayers,
Ouida
