In Celebration of MHS Class of 1958

A Tribute and Celebration

We were the class of 1958, members of the Greatest Generation as well as children of the Greatest Generation. Born in 1940, we are also called members of the Traditional Generation.

Our childhood, post World War II, "was the best of times . . . it was the age of wisdom . . . it was the epoch of belief . . .it was the season of Light . . . it was the spring of hope . . . we had everything before us . . .we were all going direct to Heaven . . . ." (A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens.) At least, that's the way I felt about it. We were truly blessed.

Meridian High School 2008 Football Team Wins State Championship!

"The Wildcats won the MHSAA Class 5A state championship against five time defending champions South Panola at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in Jackson Friday [December 5, 2008], snapping South Panola's 89 game winning streak, the third longest in history for a high school team." Read more, click here.

Football fans in Mississippi I am sure already know the MHS Wildcats beat Panola and won the state championship this year.

But, what they need to know is that our "special class" by gathering in Mississippi and singing the Wildcat Fight Song at the reunion would put our team over the top. In fact, we sung it TWICE for good measure . . . to band accompaniment. . . just to ensure that "When those Meridian Wildcats fall in line . . "

Such a fitting reward for us. . . and a fitting Thank You to our class for the Wildcat Emblem . . .that was our class gift to the school, 50 years ago.
