In Celebration of MHS Class of 1958

A Tribute and Celebration

We were the class of 1958, members of the Greatest Generation as well as children of the Greatest Generation. Born in 1940, we are also called members of the Traditional Generation.

Our childhood, post World War II, "was the best of times . . . it was the age of wisdom . . . it was the epoch of belief . . .it was the season of Light . . . it was the spring of hope . . . we had everything before us . . .we were all going direct to Heaven . . . ." (A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens.) At least, that's the way I felt about it. We were truly blessed.

MY GOOD NEWS - AND THE REST OF IT

Thank goodness - and with good wishes and prayers from all my friends literally from all over the world (ask Ouida) - there seems to be NO metastasis from my breast cancer. That's my GOOD news.

Now, for the rest of it: I have surgery scheduled for the 21st of Oct. During surgery I will have bilateral mastectomies and maybe some lymph nodes will have to be removed, as well. If so, how many will be determined during surgery. For follow-on, there will doubtless be chemo and radiation treatment. Though it'll be tough, I'm sure I can handle it. The doctors told me they're treating me so I will be able to dance at my grandsons' weddings. I am so grateful for your caring, support, and encouragement. Martha Ann

Martha Ann,
You will take this bend in the road with the same courage and determination you have taken every other. God bless you as you traverse the unchartered path.
I pray for you and Harry and your family. Can't wait to see you soon.

That is great news. I know you will get through this as you are such a strong person. Just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. So does this also mean you will be at the reunion? I hope so. Looking forward to seeing you.

You're darned right I'll be at the reunion, Beth. Wild horses (as my Mother used to say) couldn't keep me away! Can't wait.
