In Celebration of MHS Class of 1958

A Tribute and Celebration

We were the class of 1958, members of the Greatest Generation as well as children of the Greatest Generation. Born in 1940, we are also called members of the Traditional Generation.

Our childhood, post World War II, "was the best of times . . . it was the age of wisdom . . . it was the epoch of belief . . .it was the season of Light . . . it was the spring of hope . . . we had everything before us . . .we were all going direct to Heaven . . . ." (A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens.) At least, that's the way I felt about it. We were truly blessed.

Coach Allgood and James Nichols

The occasion was that I was inducted into the Louisiana College Football Hall of Fame on October 15, 2004.

Coach Allgood was at the presentation. Coach Allgood coached at Louisiana College when I played there in 1960-1963. He retired from there. R.V. Skelton is in the background.

Any idea when the photo was taken? Is Coach Allgood still around?

Have to ask James Nichols. I found this photo on classmates.com.

James ... getting inducted into the hall of fame is a significant accomplishment. I am sure there is some background information that we would all be interested in hearing about.

Please give us a little more information about how/why you got selected. Would also be interested in your coaching career.

David ... I certainly agree with you. James has certainly distinguished himself and I think everyone would love to hear more about it.

When I went to the site, I also found that Coach Allgood had coached at Louisiana College when he left MHS and was also inducted into their Hall of Fame.
