In Celebration of MHS Class of 1958

A Tribute and Celebration

We were the class of 1958, members of the Greatest Generation as well as children of the Greatest Generation. Born in 1940, we are also called members of the Traditional Generation.

Our childhood, post World War II, "was the best of times . . . it was the age of wisdom . . . it was the epoch of belief . . .it was the season of Light . . . it was the spring of hope . . . we had everything before us . . .we were all going direct to Heaven . . . ." (A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens.) At least, that's the way I felt about it. We were truly blessed.

Ouida this is great. You done done good ... again.

We're being honest here, right?

I had a crush on Virginia Deonier as far back as Elementary School. She lived out near me in Marion and rode my bus ( no not the "Short Bus" where I used to lick the windows. That was later.) Seriously, her eyes were what did it for me. When I started driving to school, I saw her less and less. We would only speak in passing in the hall. She was probably glad I wasn't riding school bus, staring at her all the time.

I think Virginia Deonier was very beautiful and also a very sweet and nice person. I understand why you had a crush on her.

Virginia is still beautiful. Harry and I see her and her husband occasionally when we tailgate with a group at Southern Miss games.
