In Celebration of MHS Class of 1958

A Tribute and Celebration

We were the class of 1958, members of the Greatest Generation as well as children of the Greatest Generation. Born in 1940, we are also called members of the Traditional Generation.

Our childhood, post World War II, "was the best of times . . . it was the age of wisdom . . . it was the epoch of belief . . .it was the season of Light . . . it was the spring of hope . . . we had everything before us . . .we were all going direct to Heaven . . . ." (A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens.) At least, that's the way I felt about it. We were truly blessed.

WILDCATS 50TH CLASS REUNION MERIDIAN HIGH SCHOOL 1958

Wildcat classmates! Let's get ready for the big 50th reunion by posting our personal profiles and current news on the blog. Send photos of yourself, your family, your boat or your dog! We want to hear, see and read it all. When we arrive at the class reunion we can begin our conversations where the blog left off.

THANKS TO THE REUNION COMMITTEE FOR THEIR DILIGENCE IN GETTING US TOGETHER AGAIN.

Spread the word to others who are not yet in my address book.

Great idea, Jinny! Will be lots of fun - now and after the reunion!

God bless,

Jinny,

I am not sure how to leave a personal profile on the blog. Apparently others are having the same problem. Maybe you could give detail instructions.

I am a mentor/coach and had lived in New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina made my home a waterfront property.

My English lit teachers would finally be proud of me. I have developed the habit of reading a book per week and I regularly post reviews on Amazon.com.

I also do a weekly newsletter called Lesson in Life. You can see it at www.teachthesoul.com

Looking forward to hearing more news from all the class mates.

I got a email today from Beth Hobgood Clark indicating they had been looking for me. I am no longer lost so I look forward to hearing from some of my classmates.

To each member of the committee, thank you for your work on this reunion...not to mention all previous ones. It is good to keep in touch, to see and be together again as a class and you have made those things happen for fifty years. Bravo!

My husband Tom and I continue to enjoy living in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. where we volunteer in our community and at our church. And we travel at every opportunity. We devote a lot of time to the National Military Family Association, an advocacy group with lots of programs dealing with the special needs of children and spouses of members of the military, most especiially those now serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Visit the website www.nmfa.org and you will see what a great organization it is.

Phyllis Beckmann Ainsworth lives nearby and we are having some more good times together. We do movies and are trying to find a place that has better shrimp than Taste of Saigon. It is doubtful we will suceed but we will continue to search in earnest.

Marjorie- I have been living in the DC area for the past 14 years. I wonder how many other members of our class are in the area that we don"t know about. Maybe we will find out thru this web site.

Morris, we have been living in Annandale twentyfour years. Phyllis moved to McLean about three years ago with son Sterling Jr and family. From the 40th reunion I learned that Lelia Keaton and Tee Mann lived in this area but don't know if they still do. Do you know of others? Tom and I plan to attend the 50th..how about you? Marjorie- I live in Germantown,MD and continue to work full time as Director of the National Institute of Corrections- a position I've held for 14 years. In 1994 I was appointed by AG Janet Reno and have been fortunate to be reappointed by several other AG's. A second retirement is in the picture by the end of the year. Since I missed the 40th reunion I look forward to being present at the big 50th. When you see Phyllis be sure and tell her hello for me. It is good to make contact with you after so many years. It will be great to be with every one in October.

Good to read everyone's comments
I was up in the DC area this past
summer but did not know where any
one lived. I live in North Dakota
and love it here. If you have never
been to my state you should go.
Especially the western part. It is
beautiful. I still spend my winters
in Meridian. Not as cold there and
usually no snow. Have enjoyed
communicating with some of you.

Hello to all '58 classmates and looking forward to attending the big 50 reunion. Special thanks to the reunion committee for all your hard work in organizing what am sure is going to be an exciting event.

My wife, Natasha, and I have a home in Huntsville, Texas while continuing to work internationally on financial sector assignments. At the last reunion we were working and living in the Republic of Georgia (Joseph Stalin's birthplace). We finished work there in 2004 and went to Bulgaria where we lived and worked until mid 2006 when I went to Baghdad, Iraq to work while Natasha went to our home in Texas. In January 2007 we returned to Sofia, Bulgaria till July. I then went to work in Juba, South Sudan in the fall of 2007 and completed that assignment in March of this year.

We are thinking about slowing down a bit and spending more time with family - my five children and their families which include 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild all of which live in Texas. Hopefully, golf will become my major job while also continuing to work on short term international assignments and as time permits to be campground host volunteers in National or State parks in the USA.

Hello Classmates!
So glad to read your comments and hear what you have been doing. Ouida is filling in the technology gaps that I have. The site is looking better all the time. Send your photos as well. Maybe we won't have so much trouble figuring out who everyone is! Every email I have is now entered. We all can add to the blog as we see fit. Please let others know about this spot, send emails to either Ouida or me so we can post them, and enjoy the comments/photos and bios shared through this site.
Looking forward to the reunion. When I have more time I'll give a more detailed bio.

This is great. Hopefully, we will have many more classmates participating. I will, with your permission, take what each of you say and put it in your bio for the booklet. This should make it a lot simpler. Just let me know if this is what you want.

Message to John Chancellor in response to your 1-26-08 comment: If you have not received an invitation this week to sign up for this blog, please send me your e-mail address, and I will ask Google to send an invitation to you. When that is received, follow instructions. At that point you will be given the opportunity to do a profile. Scroll down to end of page to see link to mine for example. When you have created your profile, let me know so I can manually create a link to it. The automatic set up to show profiles has been disabled because some do not want their names to show. (Don't be modest people - it is just us here.) Any questions, my e-mail is scribe564@bellsouth.net.

Some things never change. Jinney is still telling me what to do and has really been helpful in making me understand how to use this site.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon. Thanks to everone on the committee that is making our reunion possible and to everyone that has organized this blog.
