My Prayers

That those in our class who have died and shall die and all spouses, children, friends and family may see the face of God and dwell in his presence forever, we pray to the Lord.

That those who mourn may be comforted, we pray to the Lord.

That we may journey on with peace in our hearts until we have eternal rest in the arms of God who formed us from the dust of the earth, we pray to the Lord.

All praise, all glory and all honor to you, O Lord, for you are holy, all good and humble, bending over to embrace the world in love. For you are rich in mercy and are all love, totally love.  Amen.

Sylvia's Story

Sylvia Ann Clark White - age 75, went to be with her Savior on Thursday, April 7, 2015 after a 14 year walk with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born November 6, 1940 in Meridian, Mississippi. She was nurtured in a loving family who was active at Highland Baptist Church. After graduating from Meridian High School in 1958, she pursued a teaching degree at Mississippi State College for Women (MSCW) and then later earned her Masters at the University of Alabama.

She spent 10.years teaching at West Hills Elementary in Meridian and then later 23 years in the Knox County school system at Cedar Bluff Primary and Ball Camp Elementary both in Knoxville, Tennessee.

She was a long time member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden in Knoxville where she was the 2nd grade children’s choir director and enjoyed singing in the adult choir.

She was also a member and officer of Alpha Delta Kappa teaching sorority and thoroughly enjoyed the comradery of fellow teachers and educators. She will be remembered as a true Southern lady with a contagious laugh.

She is remembered with love by her devoted husband of 45+ years, James Thomas (Tommy) White; her faithful brother, Dr. Bobby Clark and his wife Cherry, sister-in-law, Debbie Baker and her husband Frank; her daughters, Virginia White Carter (Brett) and Allison White Little (Jason); her grandchildren, Ella, Libby and Andy Carter and Hudson, Maddox, and Sarah Katherine Little, and her sister-like cousin Faye Carol McElroy Hughes Ferguson, along with many other cousins and extended family.

Preceded in death by: her mother, Gladys Virginia McElroy Clark, her father, William Franklin (W.F.) Clark and her brother, William Charles (Billy) Clark.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made towards a cure to Alzheimer’s disease for those who follow: www.alz.org/partthecloud. Part the Cloud specifically directs these funds towards research with the highest probability of slowing, stopping or ultimately curing Alzheimer's disease. We are honored that you would remember Sylvia in this way.

We grieve not like those without hope, but as those whose only Hope is in Jesus. Sylvia’s Hope was in Him and for that above all else, we are thankful.

A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, Mississippi on Sunday at 3:00 pm. The family will then receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Central Baptist Bearden in Knoxville. Online condolences may be made at www.rosemortuary.com

Paul E. Graves, Sr.

Graveside services for Paul E. Graves Sr. will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, with Dr. Danny Lanier officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Graves, 74, of Meridian died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Vickie Windus Graves, of Meridian; daughter, Susan Graves Stokes of Meridian; son, Paul E. Graves, Jr. of Enterprise; grandchildren, Erin Beaudon Cain, Andrew David Beaudon, Eric Victor Graves, Joshua Graves, Jessica Graves, Justin Graves, Jayden Graves, and Angel Graves; five great grandchildren; sister, Sue Goldman of Meridian; brother, Bernell Graves of Virginia Beach, Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents M. A. and Estelle Graves and his son, John David Graves.
