Obituary for James Tillman, Husband of Rita Monette Tillman
Graveside services for James Tillman will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Tillman, age 77, of Meridian passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at his son’s home in Madison, Mississippi.
James graduated from Mississippi State University and married Rita Monette on December 18, 1959. He practiced accounting and was a well-respected CPA in Meridian for over 55 years. He was a loyal Mississippi State Bulldog and proud father and grandfather.
He is survived by his sons, James “Jim” Tillman Jr. (Emily) and Steve Tillman (Dana); grandsons, James “Tripp” Tillman III, Jacob Tillman, Isaac Tillman and Elijah Tillman; brother, Joe Tillman; uncle, Ray Little; and numerous other cousins and family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Monette Tillman and parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Tillman.
Pallbearers will be Selby Salter, Will Hudson, Richard Clayton, Frank Brewer, Wayne Anders, Billy Anders, Johnny Herrington, Irvin Martin, Ronnie Massey, Charles Hurst, Clay Tillman and Eric Tillman.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1957 State Baseball Championship Team.

We are the issue of Justine and Isham Mann, pictured here on a happier day. From left, Anthony Victor, Tarpley Blair and Timothy Isham. Last night Tim and I lost our brother to interstitial lung disease. He came to visit for Thanksgiving, developed shortness of breath, was hospitalized and remained in ICU until he died. In addition to his siblings he is survived by three nieces, a nephew, and six great nieces and nephews and his girlfriend of ten years, Joy Sawyer. Life events alter one's perspective. Basically, all I need is the air that I breathe. And, to love.

A Memorial
Service for Philip W. “Billy” Horn will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at
Holy Savior Menard High School Activities building beginning at 2 pm and
lasting until 6pm.
On Wednesday September 14, 2016, Billy, age 76, passed away while surrounded by family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bessie Horn and sister Charlene Lawley.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 33 years, Priscilla Joubert Horn; his children , Doyle Horn (Crystal) of Alexandria; Dr. Greg Horn (Karen) of Ocean Springs, MS; Jennifer Hill (Gary) of Prairieville, LA; Angie Goudeau (Kenny) of Colfax; Vicky Sandoval (Tony) of Pineville and Tony Soileau of Tioga, La; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Billy was born May 5, 1940 in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Meridian High School in Meridian, MS where he received All-American Honors as a Running Back. Graduating in 1958, Billy played as a freshman running back on scholarship at Mississippi State. In 1959 Billy transferred his scholarship to play football at Louisiana College, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 1962 with a minor in social studies.
Billy became Assistant Coach at Arcadia High School in 1962, moved to Welch High School, then to Menard High School in 1964 also as assistant coach. His classroom expertise was in American History.
In 1968 Billy became the Head Football Coach at Menard and continued until 1977. He enjoyed great success during that period with several District Championships.
He then coached at Bolton, Grant and finished his primary coaching career at Tioga High School where he coached from 1982 until 1996 when he then retired from coaching. Coach Horn continued in the classroom with experience at Dry Prong Junior High, Pineville High School, and finally retired from teaching in 2013 at Alexandria Senior High.
Billy loved the “game” and his legacy will forever live on in the many lives that he has touched. His true love was his family; he will forever be our Coach.
Friends and family will be welcome to share in his memories on October 1, 2016.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Carey Ann Sanford Dalton
Carey Ann Dalton of Waco, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 with her family at her side. Her memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, at First Presbyterian Church with the Dr. Leslie King officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey.
Carey was born July 5, 1940, in Meridian, Mississippi, to Anne and William Carey Sanford, Jr. She graduated from Baylor University in 1961. She taught special education students for several different schools in Waco for many years. Carey then pursued a career in real estate before becoming the Director of the Arthritis Foundation where she began the fundraiser known as The Margarita and Salsa Festival and The Jingle Bell Run.
She was an avid gardener, loved reading, walking, cooking, and entertaining guests as well as spending time with her family and friends who she loved dearly. Carey was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she volunteered for many church activities in Waco.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, James Dalton; two daughters, Laura and husband, Joel Patterson, MD, Frances and husband, Horacio Lucero, Jr. DDS, son, Carroll W. Sturgis III and wife, Gabriela, DDS; two step-sons, Daniel B. Dalton and wife, Brandi and Steven H. Dalton and wife, Staci; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter; and her brother, A.D. Sanford and wife, Sallie.
The family would like to thank Dr. Annie Chang with Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Hospital for her care and amazing compassion. They would also like to thank Doris and Emily Ballard for their help and assistance and the many hospice nurses from Providence Hospice Care, specially Michelle Chinn, RN.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.

My Prayers
That those in our class who have
died and shall die and all spouses, children, friends and family may see the
face of God and dwell in his presence forever, we pray to the Lord.

our hearts until we have eternal rest in the arms of God who formed us from the

Sylvia's Story
Sylvia Ann Clark White - age 75, went to be with her Savior on Thursday, April 7, 2015 after a 14 year walk with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born November 6, 1940 in Meridian, Mississippi. She was nurtured in a loving family who was active at Highland Baptist Church. After graduating from Meridian High School in 1958, she pursued a teaching degree at Mississippi State College for Women (MSCW) and then later earned her Masters at the University of Alabama.
She spent 10.years teaching at West Hills Elementary in Meridian and then later 23 years in the Knox County school system at Cedar Bluff Primary and Ball Camp Elementary both in Knoxville, Tennessee.
She was a long time member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden in Knoxville where she was the 2nd grade children’s choir director and enjoyed singing in the adult choir.
She was also a member and officer of Alpha Delta Kappa teaching sorority and thoroughly enjoyed the comradery of fellow teachers and educators. She will be remembered as a true Southern lady with a contagious laugh.
She is remembered with love by her devoted husband of 45+ years, James Thomas (Tommy) White; her faithful brother, Dr. Bobby Clark and his wife Cherry, sister-in-law, Debbie Baker and her husband Frank; her daughters, Virginia White Carter (Brett) and Allison White Little (Jason); her grandchildren, Ella, Libby and Andy Carter and Hudson, Maddox, and Sarah Katherine Little, and her sister-like cousin Faye Carol McElroy Hughes Ferguson, along with many other cousins and extended family.
Preceded in death by: her mother, Gladys Virginia McElroy Clark, her father, William Franklin (W.F.) Clark and her brother, William Charles (Billy) Clark.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made towards a cure to Alzheimer’s disease for those who follow: www.alz.org/partthecloud. Part the Cloud specifically directs these funds towards research with the highest probability of slowing, stopping or ultimately curing Alzheimer's disease. We are honored that you would remember Sylvia in this way.
We grieve not like those without hope, but as those whose only Hope is in Jesus. Sylvia’s Hope was in Him and for that above all else, we are thankful.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Vickie Windus Graves, of Meridian; daughter, Susan Graves Stokes of Meridian; son, Paul E. Graves, Jr. of Enterprise; grandchildren, Erin Beaudon Cain, Andrew David Beaudon, Eric Victor Graves, Joshua Graves, Jessica Graves, Justin Graves, Jayden Graves, and Angel Graves; five great grandchildren; sister, Sue Goldman of Meridian; brother, Bernell Graves of Virginia Beach, Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
