Harrell Glenmore "Glen" McQuage, Jr., deceased

Harrell Glenmore “Glen” McQuage, Jr., 78, of Paducah, KY, passed away peacefully early on Thur., Apr. 12, 2018, after living with congestive heart failure for 14 years. He was surrounded by his family.

Glen is preceded in death by his parents, Harrell “Mac” McQuage and Mamie Lucile McBryde McQuage of Meridian, Miss. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Adams McQuage; two daughters, Angela McQuage (James Barry) and Elizabeth McQuage; six in-law siblings, Emma and Hal Hicks, Denise and David Knupp, and Alyson and Jess Adams; four nieces, Kagney Adams, Lindsey Adams, Brandi Carl, and Melanie Knupp; five nephews, C.W. Adams, Connor Adams, Andrew Adams, Quaid Adams, Paul Hicks; and many great- nieces and -nephews.

In his youth, Glen was a dedicated athlete, playing basketball and excelling in track/long distance running. After high school, Glen joined the Air National Guard where he was “one hell of a typist.” He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and his master’s degree in social work from Tulane University.

Glen spent his career helping others as a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist, specializing in helping individuals struggling with substance abuse. He was passionate about his work and the individuals he helped, as he had struggled with alcoholism himself. He found sobriety through Alcoholics Anonymous.

Throughout his life, Glen maintained a passion for music, as he was well known for blaring Bob Dylan and Rush. He was dedicated to his faith and sharing God’s love as a student of “A Course in Miracles.” After retirement, his focuses in life were his wife, his daughters, and continuing his spiritual growth. Glen will be remembered for his unconditional love, his great sense of humor, and his eccentric fashion choices.

Visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church, 200 N. 7 St., Paducah, KY, at 10:00AM on Sat., Apr. 21. A memorial service celebrating Glen’s life and the impact it had will immediately follow at 11:00AM. Louis Ray “Lou Lou” Thompson, Jr.

Memorial services for Lou Lou Thompson will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 12:00 pm, at Church of the Way, with Reverend Jack Giles officiating and Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Thompson, 75, of Meridian, passed away April 26, at Regency Hospital.

Mr. Thompson spent more than 45 years coaching various sports in the community. He touched the lives of many young men, and even coached the children of former players. He deeply loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was also a very active member of Church of the Way.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Thompson; children, Barry (Laura) Thompson, Cindy (Johnny) Perez, and Bobby (Sharon) Thompson; step-children, Tony (Joyce) Sylvester and Diana Keith; brothers, Billy Thompson and Lloyd Thompson. He’s also survived by fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Ray and Willie Mae Thompson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Calvary Christian School coaches, football, and baseball players.

Everette Woodley Clayton, Jr., Obituary

Everette Woodley Clayton, Jr., 71, of Headland passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Monday July 11, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Wright officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Clayton was born June 5, 1940 in Meridian, MS and lived there the early part of his life. He served in the U.S. Air Force Air National Guard. Mr. Clayton moved to Dothan in 1965 and was employed with Girly Refining Comp-any for 18 years and later with Hathcock Remodeling for 18 years until his retirement in 2006. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Mr. Clayton was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Dothan.

He was preceded in death by his father Everette Woodley Clayton, Sr., his mother Mary Alice Clayton Dearman, and his stepfather Robert Earl Dearman. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Carol Clayton of Headland; sons, Everette W. Clayton, III (Becky) of Dothan and Cory Clayton (Brittney) of Dothan; his daughter Candy Jordan (Stephen) of Fernandina Beach, FL; 6 grandchildren, Cole Clayton, Clint Clayton, Reese Jordan, Libby Jordan, Turner Clayton, and Caroline Clayton; a brother Jimmy Clayton (Ginger) of Gulf Port, MS; a sister Patsy Reynolds (Jack) of Avon, IN; several nieces and nephews also survive.

James T. “Jim” Hurley Jr., Obituary

A memorial service will be held July 24, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Hathorn Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. James T. "Jim" Hurley Jr., 69, of Sumrall, who died July 16 at his residence. The Rev. Sammy W. Ellis will officiate at the service. Mr. Hurley’s ashes will be interred at a later date. Visitation will be held July 24, 2010 from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.

A native of Meridian, Mr. Hurley was born July 27, 1940 to the late James T. Sr. and Sara Louise Jordan Hurley. He retired as a terminal manager for the Chevron Petroleum Co. after 38 years working his last years at the Collins terminal. A member of the Methodist faith, he honorably served our country in the U.S. Air National Guard, loved bird watching, camping, fishing and his beloved dog Gracie.

Survivors include his loving wife, Zelma Bayles Hurley of Sumrall; son, Brent Hurley of Clinton; two daughters, Jennifer Burcaw and husband Les Jr. of Petal and Holley Broome Patterson and husband John of Florence; one sister, Nancy Tillman of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandchildren; two nephews; and a special niece, Kim Walker and husband, Kevin, of Florence. Honorary pallbearers include Douglas Polk, Ron Bayles, Kevin Walker, John Patterson, Brandon Broome, Michael Broome, Kermit Broome, Ralph Moon, Jamie Johnson, Bill Fadaol and Charlie Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Hathorn Funeral Home of Columbia is in charge of arrangements.
