
Harrell Glenmore “Glen” McQuage, Jr., 78, of Paducah, KY, passed away peacefully early on Thur., Apr. 12, 2018, after living with congestive heart failure for 14 years. He was surrounded by his family.
Glen is preceded in death by his parents, Harrell “Mac” McQuage and Mamie Lucile McBryde McQuage of Meridian, Miss. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Adams McQuage; two daughters, Angela McQuage (James Barry) and Elizabeth McQuage; six in-law siblings, Emma and Hal Hicks, Denise and David Knupp, and Alyson and Jess Adams; four nieces, Kagney Adams, Lindsey Adams, Brandi Carl, and Melanie Knupp; five nephews, C.W. Adams, Connor Adams, Andrew Adams, Quaid Adams, Paul Hicks; and many great- nieces and -nephews.
In his youth, Glen was a dedicated athlete, playing basketball and excelling in track/long distance running. After high school, Glen joined the Air National Guard where he was “one hell of a typist.” He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and his master’s degree in social work from Tulane University.
Glen spent his career helping others as a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist, specializing in helping individuals struggling with substance abuse. He was passionate about his work and the individuals he helped, as he had struggled with alcoholism himself. He found sobriety through Alcoholics Anonymous.
Throughout his life, Glen maintained a passion for music, as he was well known for blaring Bob Dylan and Rush. He was dedicated to his faith and sharing God’s love as a student of “A Course in Miracles.” After retirement, his focuses in life were his wife, his daughters, and continuing his spiritual growth. Glen will be remembered for his unconditional love, his great sense of humor, and his eccentric fashion choices.
Visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church, 200 N. 7 St., Paducah, KY, at 10:00AM on Sat., Apr. 21. A memorial service celebrating Glen’s life and the impact it had will immediately follow at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Glen’s honor.
